EQUAL ESPORTS COUNCIL AS GUEST OF JULIA STOSCHEK

On the 12th and 13th of June, the Equal eSports Council finally met physically for the 2nd time to discuss important topics around the Equal eSports Initiative. This time the meet-up took place in warm temperatures at the Julia Stoschek Foundation in Düsseldorf. Julia Stoschek was already a guest at the Equal eSports Festival Vol.2 in September 2022 and took part in the panel talk "Arts & Gaming" with Antje Hundhausen, Angela Washko and Melissa Lee. The Julia Stoschek Foundation's current exhibition "Worldbuilding: Video Games and Art in the Digital Age" was a wonderful fit for the meeting and was intended to serve as creative enrichment for the two workshop days.

During the Council meeting, the participants were given a guided tour of Julia Stoschek's exhibition. Besides having fun, the Council also had important issues to discuss: This year's Council Meet-up focused on the Equal eSports Festival, content formats and the Equal eSports talent development. The main aim was to get an overview of the status quo and to discuss possible improvements. As the Equal eSports Initiative is becoming more and more known, it is even more important to reflect on the last years, to take away lessons learned and to make decisions together with experts. The council is indispensable for the further development of the initiative, but also for the promotion of young eSports talents and therefore has a supporting role within the initiative.

The Equal eSports Festival Vol. 3 is approaching

On the 20th and 21st of September 2023 it's that time again: the Equal eSports Festival Vol. 3 will take place in Cologne! Once again, many well-known faces from the eSports and gaming scene will be there. This year we want to involve the visitors on site and the viewers in the stream even more interactively in the festival. In addition to the final of the Equal eSports Cup and entertaining competitions, you can also expect formats where you can learn more about career opportunities and the scientific background of eSports. We want to give you a closer look at the everyday life of eSports professionals and what they have to pay attention to. In addition to the stage programme, visitors can also actively participate in the festival. In addition to various workshops, competitions are also planned. We are looking forward to seeing you!

The application phase for the Equal eSports talent promotion starts soon

For around 2 years, Telekom has been working with its partners esports player foundation and SK Gaming on the Equal eSports Initiative to promote more diversity and equality in eSports.
Currently, 18 women and non-binary players in League of Legends and Brawl Stars are supported by the esports player foundation in the Equal eSports talent promotion. Here, too, we are trying to adapt the processes in order to provide the players with the best possible support and development. In the coming year, the mentoring will be expanded even further and the talents will receive even better support. Currently, all women and non-binary players have the chance to apply for the Equal eSports Talent Promotion of the epf. All information and the application can be found here.
