The Equal eSports Festival @ Digital X sets new standards!
We are happy - more than 5,000 visitors attended the Equal eSports Festival @Digital X, more than 70,000 viewers on Twitch and more than 70 speakers and players on the two stages and in the workshops. To all who were there: Players, visitors, speakers, helpers and team - thank you!
We are proud and happy to look back on an event that exceeded all expectations. As part of Digital X, the Equal eSports Festival Vol. 2 took place for the first time in Cologne on September 13 & 14. In addition to eSports and gaming enthusiasts, the guests included numerous personalities from the fields of business, art and education. We are very happy that together with our partners SK Gaming and esports player foundation we could set another sign for more diversity in eSports. As part of #GoodMagenta, it was important to us to give everyone access to the festival: With our free event under the open sky in the middle of the city center and the access via Twitch for all non-Cologne residents, we have succeeded in doing so. we have convincingly succeeded in doing so.
Strong visitor numbers and reach
The second Equal eSports Festival in Cologne reached considerably more people than last year at the premiere in Berlin. With 2,200 ticket registrations and over 5,000 visitors on site, we were able to set new records. On both days, over 70,000 viewers followed our tournaments and workshops on Twitch.
Exciting League of Legends action at the Equal eSports Fan Tournament
With SK Gaming, Rogue, BIG and Eintracht Spandau, 4 well-known eSports organizations participated with fan teams in the first Equal eSports Fan Tournament. The teams, consisting of women and non-binary players, met in a knockout mode. After a total of 4 exciting games on the main stage, the tournament ended with the following ranking:
- BIG - Nugget, Zavee, CrowMac, Trez & Lumi
2nd Rogue - Shiina, Nenris, Kyanna, Emolga & Dragon
3rd Eintracht Spandau - Solar, Sayna, SummonaZir, Paradox & Zitret
4th SK Gaming - Escape, Aly, Apollonia, Charry & Viki
We are very happy that BIG signed up the winning team for their League of Legends division after the festival and that Luna "Zavee" Lochmann, Madison "CrowMac" Coutelet, Georgia "Trez" Wheeler, Miki "Nugget" Maurer and Gina "Lumi" Kircher will compete in the team "BIG Chroma" in the future.
Gaming entertainment with well-known influencers
Another highlight of the festival was the Equal eSports Cup. A total of 5 mixed teams of influencers competed against each other in five different party games. Already at the beginning the favorites crystallized. After an exciting final the following rankings resulted:
1. Freiraumreh & Sola
2. Thunny & ClashGames
3. Lumenti & Puuki
4. Sissor & Lukas Brawl Stars
5. Fibii & Noahreyli
The winning team donated the 5,000€ prize money associated with the victory to the charitable institution 100% Mensch. Freiraumreh & Sola chose the project because it works for more education, visibility and equality for the queer community.
Various program with activities for all visitors
Many exciting talks took place on the Action and Inspiration Stage. And at workshops on the topics of eSports, health and careers, there were plenty of tips and practical exercises. A total of 6 school classes enthusiastically participated in a school program specially tailored to them. And there was also a lot going on around it: Attractions such as the VR video games "VR Flight Simulator" and "Beat Saber", "Logitech Racing" and an airbrush tattoo station went down very well with the public.
